Sahra Wagenknecht’s alliance co-chair Amira Mohamed Ali once again ruled out a coalition between her party and the AfD. But at the same time, she reiterated the need for a different approach to the AfD.
Mohamed Ali told the “Rheinische Post”: “BSW will provide content for the AfD in parliament by using empty phrases such as “firewall” and the fundamental rejection of any parliamentary initiative by the AfD if there is an application that has no harm in its content, we will not reject it categorically.”
The newly founded party quickly achieved double-digit results in the state elections in Saxony, Thuringia and Brandenburg and thus became a force to be reckoned with. Mohamed Ali led the BSW together with female vocalist Sahra Wagenknecht.
The BSW has always insisted that a coalition with the AfD is impossible because the party is at least partly right-wing extremist. “But we have always said that we want to deal with the AfD differently than other parties have done in the last ten years,” the party leader said.
