Brazil faces its eighth heat wave of the year this week

Extreme heat has returned to the country again, marking the beginning of a new wave of high temperatures. Forecasts indicate that temperatures will rise again in the southern, southeastern and central-western regions throughout this week.

According to Climatempo, air quality may deteriorate again, increasing the risk of fires in several areas of the country and damaging visibility. Moreover, relative air humidity should reach critical levels in many capital cities.

Forecasts indicate that the heat wave will continue until October 8 in most parts of Brazil. Temperatures are expected to range between 3°C and 5°C above average in the central west, within São Paulo, the Tocantins, and within the northeast, with maximums that could reach 38°C or 39°C.

In Cuiabá and Corumba, temperatures can reach between 40°C and 42°C. Only on Wednesday (10/2) will the cold front arrive and the cold weather will return, with an expected drop in temperatures between Thursday and Friday (10/4) in the south and part of the southeastern region, especially in the east and south of São Paulo, at the end of the week.

Despite the approaching cold front, several regions in Brazil will continue to experience extreme heat, with above-average temperatures in the regions of Minas Gerais, Goiás and parts of eastern Mato Grosso.
