For the 25th time, the city of Bonn will be transformed into a major event area this weekend. Mayor Katja Dörner and organizers City-Marketing Bonn opened the Bonn Festival on Friday afternoon in the market square. “Visitors can find a great mix of music, dancing, performances, shopping experiences, information and lots of hands-on activities throughout the pedestrian zone,” said Maike Reinhardt, managing director of the organizers. After welcoming Bonn’s city army corps, the Hot Pepper jazz band in the market square (with Roderick and Joy dancing in the picture) signals the start of a weekend of music.
A varied program of shows, music and entertainment is offered over three days on the market stage and on Münsterplatz. The Electronic Dance Music Festival also takes place at Münsterplatz on Friday and Saturday. DJs from all over Germany perform there. This year, Friedrichstrasse is transformed into a winery and vendors display art and antiques at the Rhine Antique Market. On Sundays, shops in the city center are open from 1 pm to 6 pm. “The Bonn Festival has extraordinary charisma. Many people come to the city center, and this also revitalizes our center and retail,” said Mayor Katja Dörner.
