Sao Paulo – The São Bernardo do Campo City Council in the São Paulo region will investigate councilor Paulo Eduardo López (PL), known as Paulo Chuchu.
The House of Representatives approved this Tuesday (10/29) by 19 votes to 6 a request to investigate a threat made by the parliamentarian against a journalist.
On August 21, 2024, Paulo Chuchu confronted journalist Artur García Rodríguez, insistently asking what the professional’s electoral residence was and who he would vote for in the municipal elections.
The journalist refused to answer and was called a “PTist” by the municipal councilor. Paulo Chuchu then pulled out a gun and said, “You better be careful what you answer. Good thing I have a gun.
The parliamentarian could be impeached for the episode. He denies showing a gun to Arthur.
The complaint was filed by the PSol of São Bernardo do Campo, who stated that the behavior of Paulo Chuchu constituted a threat and an abuse of power.
The case now goes to the House Committee on Parliamentary Ethics and Decency for analysis. Measures have also been requested to protect the journalist.
