Croatian media report shocking events ahead of the Nations League match against Poland. In Osijek, a group of local hooligans attacked several dozen Poles, the Sportske novosti portal reported.
The incident occurred near the Hotel Osijek, where the Croatian national team was staying. Around 50 Croatian youths attacked a smaller group of Polish fans.
“Between fans of both teams There was a bloody fight, which was stopped relatively quickly by the police.preventing a more serious course of events”, described the Croatian sports portal.
Police said they had detained several participants in the clash and that more information about the clash – and the detainees themselves – would be released later.
The portal noted that the attackers were under the influence of alcohol.
The Nations League first division match between Croatia and Poland kicked off at 20:45 at the Opus Arena stadium in Osijek.
