Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris faced off tonight in their first presidential debate. Both candidates came with well-prepared agendas, but Bitcoin enthusiasts were disappointed that neither addressed cryptocurrency reform. The debate focused on issues such as climate change, abortion rights, international conflict and economic reform.

Harris repeatedly emphasized her plans to address the country’s challenges, presenting herself as a champion of the middle class. Meanwhile, Trump dismissed her claims and offered counterarguments that didn’t really have much of an impact. Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin were absent from the discussion.

This follows Trump’s recent appearance at the Bitcoin Nashville conference, where he made several bold promises, including the firing of SEC Chairman Gary Gensler. Once seen as a passing fad or the currency of choice for shady characters, cryptocurrency is now firmly entrenched in the mainstream.

Trump has stated his ambition to make the US the “crypto capital of the planet” and the Bitcoin “superpower of the world.” His campaign has embraced cryptocurrency, now accepting Bitcoin donations and recently launching digital NFT trading cards.

Bitcoin price has yet to react to this heated debate and is currently above the crucial $57,000 mark.

Here’s what Trump said at the Bitcoin conference:

“We will have rules, but from now on the rules will be written by people who love your industry, not people who hate your industry. I will appoint an SEC chairman who will build the future, not block it,” Trump promised.

He lashed out at Harris and Joe Biden, saying: “If they win this election, you’re all gone. They’re going to be mean. They’re going to be ruthless. They’re going to do things you won’t believe.”
