Bia Haddad defeats Kasatkina to win her first title in 2024

Brazilian tennis player Beatriz Haddad Maia (N.17) defeated Daria Kasatkina (N.13) from Russia in three sets (1-6, 6-4 and 6-1) in the WTA 500 final in Seoul, South Korea, and thus won her first title of the season, this Sunday, 22.

The 28-year-old from São Paulo insists he is in a great phase, having won 12 of the last 14 games played.

Kasatkina, the tournament’s top seed, started the match with great dominance and won the first set brilliantly 6-1 in just 26 minutes.

The European looked to be in control when she broke again in the opening game of the second set and served for a 4-2 lead. But Bia Haddad reacted.

The Brazilian raised her game, adjusting the ball to the line and managing two breaks to take the final to a third set, where Kasatkina (who has lost four of the five finals she has played this year) collapsed and was no longer able to face Bia Haddad.

This is the Brazilian’s first title of the season and the fourth of his career, after Zhuhai (China) in 2023 and Birmingham and Nottingham in 2022.
