Bahian archer Paulo Merlino, from Club Asas, won the silver medal in the men’s bare bow category, on Saturday (28), during the 50th Brazilian Archery Championship, held at Prasa Cairo, in El Salvador.

Merlino was defeated in the final by Rafael de Alcumin Dias, of Pampulha Iati Club, of Minas Gerais, who won the gold medal. The decision between the two athletes was decided in a “stop”, the decisive tiebreaker in shooting.
In addition to Merlino’s individual silver, the state of Bahia also won gold in the Baribó women’s team category, with shooters Renata Barros, Clara Amaral and Doda Almeida, all from Club Asas.
In the fight for the bronze medal in the men’s bow competition, Ricardo Marquez from Bahia reached the final stage, but was unable to reach the podium.
