Bahian film selected for international festival in Nigeria

The Bahian short film “Meu Pai ea Praia”, written and directed by Marcos Alexander, attracted international attention and was selected for the 13th edition of the African International Film Festival. The event takes place between November 3rd and 9th in Lagos, Nigeria.

Looking at topics like father absence, love, solo motherhood, technology and the search for family connectionsthe plot takes place in a future Salvador, where the character Kinho is disappointed when his father cannot take him to the beach. The next day, however, his father unexpectedly appears. Although Kinho notices something different in his behavior, he enjoys the precious time with this father figure.

The work has the actors as actors Cayo Ribeirowho plays the boy Kinho; Alin Nepomucenoa mother responsible for trying to fill the father’s void; and Messenger of God like his father. The recordings were made last July in Praia da Boa Viagem and in some places in the capital of Bahia..

“To debut at an African festival with a film produced in the blackest city outside of Africa, with a cast and crew composed mostly of black people, is uniquely beautiful. This milestone represents more than a debut: it is a confirmation of the cultural and historical ties between El Salvador and the African continent”, celebrated Marcos Alexander. “Meu Pai ea Praia” is scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2025.
