A man fell into the Tarn late yesterday morning while crossing the partially submerged Sautadoo footbridge in Millau. He has not yet been found.

Sunday, October 27, late in the morning around noon, firefighters were called after a report by a witness who saw a man trying to cross the Saoutadou pedestrian bridge in Millau, as reported by our colleagues at Midi Libre.

The footbridge was partially submerged by the rising level of the River Tarn, swollen by heavy rains this weekend. The victim, who had breached a curfew imposed by the city the previous day, at midday on Saturday, is said to have fallen from the footbridge before being swept away by the Tarn’s strong current.

Yesterday evening, despite the deployment of firefighters from Millau, accompanied by white water rescue specialists, a drone and a dog team, the search remained unsuccessful.
