AT&T will not sell Google Pixel 9 Pro foldable phone

Today, Google finally officially unveiled the Pixel 9 family, including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. If the company’s second foldable smartphone has caught your eye, we have some bad news for you if AT&T is your carrier of choice.

For some reason, AT&T has decided not to sell the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This is despite the fact that it has offered its predecessor, the original Pixel Fold, and will have all the other Pixel 9 devices ready for its customers as well.

The carrier didn’t provide details on the reasoning behind its rather surprising decision, unfortunately. Its stance has the potential to affect sales of Google’s foldable device in the US, as AT&T has nearly 72 million postpaid subscribers, and people in the US are most accustomed to buying new devices from their carriers.

If you don’t mind buying an unlocked Pixel 9 Pro Fold elsewhere, you’ll likely be able to use it on AT&T, but keep in mind that the carrier hasn’t yet confirmed it’s certifying the device for use on its network, so the situation is still uncertain.

The good news (at least if you’re not an AT&T customer) is that both Verizon and T-Mobile If will sell Google’s new foldable phone. It will be available on September 4 for a starting price of $1,799.
