Apple announces September 9 event; iPhone 16 series expected

Apple has finally announced the date for its iPhone event, September 9. Rumors have it that the company will announce new hardware, including a new iPhone 16 series, a new Apple Watch (or Watches if the new Ultra model is accompanied by a new model), and new Apple AirPods.

The event has the tagline “It’s Glowtime,” which could be a reference to Apple Intelligence. The upcoming iPhone 16 series will be Apple’s first series to feature AI out of the box.

Interestingly, recent reports suggest that Apple might keep the event on September 10, but to everyone’s surprise, the company has announced the launch date a day earlier than expected. The event is being held at the Steve Jobs Theater, which will be streamed live on YouTube. Those planning to watch the launch online can stream it on YouTube at 10:30 PM Indian time on September 9, 2024.

In addition to the iPhone 16 series, Apple is set to announce a number of things, including new Apple Watch models and new AirPods. The company will also finally reveal availability dates for iOS 18 and other recent software updates.

The new iPhone 16 series is rumored to include four models — iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The company is expected to introduce the Action button to all of its models this year, replacing the iconic Alert Slider on entry-level iPhones for the first time. Last year, the Action button was introduced to Pro models.

The biggest talk of the town is Apple Intelligence, the company’s all-new AI system that’s set to launch with its next-generation hardware. Apple showed off a preview of iOS 18 at WWDC, but we can expect the company to share more details at its September 9 event.
