Another part of the tenement house collapsed, under which “Katarzyna” was drilling a tunnel

The ceilings collapsed in the annex of the tenement house at al. 1 Maja 23 in Łódź – this is the information we received from a listener of the RMF FM hotline on Saturday, shortly after 22. The information was confirmed by the fire brigade. A few days ago, the wall of the annex collapsed and the floor of the ground floor apartment collapsed. The residents had already been evacuated. The TBM shield “Katarzyna” was working under the tenement house, which was drilling a cross-city tunnel in Łódź.

Ceilings collapsed in the tenement annex at al. 1 Maja 23 in Lodź. We received this information on Saturday night on RMF FM’s Direct Line.

A fire brigade has been dispatched to the site and has already completed its operations because the site is guarded and no one is allowed to enter. The ceilings of the rooms have collapsed – perhaps it was caused by heavy rains. There will definitely be construction supervision on site – said RMF FM Brigadier Jędrzej Pawlak, spokesman for the commander of the Łódź Fire Department.

This is a building where a wall collapsed on September 7th and a few days later the floor of the ground floor apartment collapsed. It happened when a shield piercing a railway tunnel went underground.

The site of the construction disaster was then visited by RMF FM reporter Agnieszka Wyderka, who reported that a crisis team was operating at the site. The municipal authorities then announced that the residents of the slum would not be left without help. An information point has been set up at Łódź Fabryczna station, where a legal advisor is on duty.
