Another week is behind us, so let’s recap. Google has released Android 15 to developers, and Pixels are expected to receive the update in “weeks.” Other manufacturers should announce their update plans soon.
Qualcomm has unveiled the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. The new mid-range platform takes over from the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, as the company apparently forgot that there is no second-generation 4nm chip. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 promises better AI performance for tasks like activity tracking and noise reduction during calls. The chip is really similar to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 with some improvements in the CPU and display departments.
The chip choice for the Galaxy S25 family has been a topic of discussion over the past few weeks. First we heard it would be Exynos-only, then two separate reports told us we could expect Snapdragon everywhere. Now, another rumor, coming from Samsung’s home country of Korea, confirms Snapdragon’s victory.
The Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra will reportedly use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 globally. This has apparently been done to “maximize the performance” of the S25 series. The Exynos 2500 will instead be used in the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, which are set to release in the second half of next year. This is an interesting twist, as foldable smartphones have relied on Snapdragon chipsets up until now.
Or anyone who is not a programmer – at least not yet.
This would be an interesting change of strategy.
The chipset is the same as the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, but has less efficient cores.
Certification reveals Samsung’s plans.
We’ve seen the first render of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. It’s noticeably thinner than the current Galaxy Z Fold6, has a brushed finish on the back, and a slightly different camera island. One of the lenses looks like a periscope zoom, and we’re expecting a 200MP main camera. Unfortunately, rumor has it that this phone will be exclusive to China and South Korea.
IFA kicked off this week, with key announcements including the 8-core Snapdragon X Plus, Honor holding a global launch of the Magic V3, MagicPad 2, and the Intel-powered MagicBook Art 14. Honor also unveiled a Snapdragon X Elite-powered variant of the MagicBook Art 14.
Finally, Huawei’s tri-foldable Mate XT was shown live, and the company later released its teaser.
No unnecessary extras, but also no worries.
This is the new name for the Oppo A3 Pro, which was launched earlier this summer in India.
It is joined by the small but extremely durable Armor Mini 20T Pro phone with a 4.7-inch display.
It looks similar to the Fold6, but is not identical.
However, the authenticity of the photo cannot be confirmed.
