Marlene Fonseca, 72, died at a polling station in Jardim Botanico, the southern region of Rio, on Sunday (6). The woman was at Colégio Municipal Camilo Castelo Branco when the incident occurred.

According to the Regional Electoral Court, voting was resumed after the division room was changed. The fire department was called at 1:30 p.m. to remove the elderly woman’s body from the scene. So far, no details have been published about the cause of death.

Replaced more than 260 ballot boxes

During a press conference on Sunday afternoon, TRE-RJ updated the number of ballot boxes that had been replaced: 266 across the state.

24 incidents of people being sent to police stations due to election crimes were also announced.

There were 12 for ballot boxes, 4 for election propaganda, 3 for vote buying, 2 for disobedience, and 3 for other reasons.
