Ministers Alexandre de Moraes and Flávio Dino, of Federal Supreme Court (STF)cracked a joke during the hearing at Panel 1 which dismissed the appeal filed by Corinthians.
On Tuesday 24th, the board analyzed the action regarding the calculation of the club’s replacement social security contributions.
A fan of the football team, Moraes spoke of “glorious Corinth” when calling for the review process.
After the STF considered the case, Dino, who comes from Botafogo, asked for the opinion, jokingly, that he was against the sale of Dutch player Memphis Depay, Corinthians’ new player, to pay off the club’s debts.
Moraes replied that “there is no more debt”. According to the minister, the money will be paid through a collection, via Pix, from Gaviões da Fiel, an organised Corinthians fan base.
“There will be a Pix account on Caixa, and all the Corinthians fans will pay, and there will be money left over”, Moraes said jokingly. Afterwards, still speaking to his colleague from the Court, he stated: “I will no longer give the shirts that I promised”.
