Supermarkets and high street stores across the UK are warning that a number of popular products have been deemed unsafe to consume and anyone who bought them should return them as soon as possible for a full refund.
The Food Standards Authority (FSA) has recently issued two warnings to consumers about the presence of contaminants in food sold across the country.
One of them is a popular brand of vodka that may contain isopropyl alcohol – an industrial solvent that is not suitable for human consumption.
Some bottles of Glen’s Vodka sold in major supermarkets such as Tesco have been replaced with a fake product containing the chemical.
“The use of isopropyl alcohol can quickly lead to alcohol poisoning and, in severe cases, death,” the FSA warns.
Isopropyl alcohol smells and tastes different from normal vodka – so if you notice anything unusual about your alcohol, don’t drink it, but keep it in a safe place while you alert the local authorities.

Another item being recalled is soup – so if you’re stocking up for fall, it would be wise to re-check your pantry.
If you’ve recently bought Aldi’s Soupreme Cream of Chicken and Special Pick Pea and Ham Soup, both may contain traces of peanuts without being labeled – which is dangerous for anyone with allergies.
The 600g portion sizes, with a best before date of 1 October for chicken and 28 September for ham, may contain nuts.
If you have purchased these products and no longer feel safe to use them, you can return them to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.
