Alarm on board a LOT aircraft
The report of a potential threat on board the aircraft concerns flight LO11 from Warsaw to Newark, United States. The LOT Polish Airlines plane took off but was diverted back to Warsaw Chopin Airport.
Information about the plane’s turnaround was first reported by RMF FM, reporting detection of dangerous objects on board as a reason to return the aircraft.
The plane had to return to Warsaw
“After receiving a signal about a potential threat on board the aircraft carrying out flight LO11 from Warsaw to Newark, in the United States, the captain, in accordance with procedure, decided to return to Warsaw airport,” LOT’s press office told PAP. After landing, airport and state services should take appropriate measures.
LOT’s press office did not comment on the information about the presence of dangerous items on board.. LOT Polish Airlines also announced the cancellation of the flight and the change of passengers’ reservations to other connections.
Anna Dermont, a spokeswoman for Warsaw Chopin Airport, told TVN24 that “airport services received information about possible dangerous cargo on board the plane to Newark.”. – The appropriate procedures for such a situation have been initiated and State services are taking measures – she added.
