The Ministry of Digitalization recalls in the latest statement that the Air Quality service was introduced in the mObywatel application in the second half of 2023. It was an important moment in the history of changes in the application, as on the same day three important services appeared in mObywatel – in addition to Air Quality, there were Elections and Vehicle History.
The previous version of the service allowed the user to select a measuring point from which the air condition in a given area could be assessed. The user had the opportunity to provide the service with data about his location and indicate on the map the point that suited him best in his region.
These points were marked with clearly visible red pins. However, their color did not reflect the air conditions at a particular measuring point. After selecting a point, the user was given a preview of it immediately after logging into the service. The special badge featured, among other things, an easily identifiable emoticon.
It showed a face expressing positive emotions when air quality was high and negative emotions when it was below standard. The emoji was also colored appropriately – green meant very good air quality, and other colors (from orange through shades of red to blue and black) indicated that the quality was declining and could even be dangerous to health.
What changes in the Air Quality service in the mObywatel application
The Ministry of Digital Affairs admits that the Air Quality service has not undergone any major updates since its introduction. That has changed recently.
