The proceedings supervised by the Military Affairs Department of the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office concern the case disclosed by Deputy Minister of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk in April this year. Tomczyk showed an email from November 8, 2023 sent by Agnieszka G., former head of the Operations Center of the Minister of National Defense, to Jolanta L, director general of the Ministry of National Defense.

G. was no longer working in the ministry at that time, after being elected to the National Broadcasting Council in autumn 2022, she served as social advisor to the then head of the ministry, Mariusz Błaszczak.

A watch worth PLN 6,000. PLN did not go to the Vice Minister of Korea

Content of the email dated November 8, 2023. says: “This is what I chose” and the subject line: Watch. The email included a link to the online store and a photo of a Longines La Grande Classique watch worth approximately PLN 6,000. zloty. The next part of the correspondence, which was submitted by the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense, includes an email sent 4 hours later with the following text: “In view of the need for the Ministry of National Defense to provide a commemorative gift in the form of a women’s watch, please check whether the minister’s gift warehouse has such an item in stock. If not, please make the purchase after researching the market. Due to its importance, it is recommended that it be a classic watch, with a leather strap, automatic, with a minimum warranty of 5 years.

Tomczyk also published an order to issue a Longines La Grande Classique watch in connection with the visit of the South Korean Vice Minister of Defense. – There is no woman in the entire Korean delegation. But there is an idea to give a Longines women’s watch to the vice minister, he commented.

The deputy minister described that before the meeting it was agreed with the Korean side that there would be two gifts, but the Koreans had three gifts. – Therefore, another gift was added in the form of not a watch, but a painting with Fryderyk Chopin – he added.

– At this stage, the Longines watch is lost. This surveillance never reached the South Korean Minister of National Defense, he stressed. In the second half of April, the Military Police found this watch in Agnieszka G.’s apartment.

Agnieszka G. does not confess


In Friday’s announcement, titled “’I chose this one.’ “Allegations of exceeding official powers in the context of the illegal acquisition and provision of a watch intended for promotional purposes of the Ministry of National Defense,” announced the spokesperson for the District Attorney’s Office, that the process in this case is in the final phase..

– The case in question was initiated on April 17, 2024 on the basis of materials collected by the Military Counterintelligence Service, which determined that in the period from November 8, 2023 to November 30, 2023, the then Director General of the Ministry of National Defense, acting within the scope of his rights and obligations, decided to purchase a Longines watch worth approximately PLN 6,000, and despite the formal purpose of the watch being intended for promotional purposes, that is, to give it to representatives of a foreign delegation visiting the Minister of National Defense, in fact it was purchased for the free delivery of the property to Agnieszka G., which is what happened – he described.

He calculated that in the process, as witnesses – of the circumstances of the purchase, registration, settlement and issuance of the watch in question – there were employees of the Ministry of National Defense who were then performing military service, at the service of the Operations Center of the Ministry of National Defense, Administrative Department of the Ministry of National Defense, Military Protocol Department of the Department of Military Foreign Relations of the Ministry of National Defense, Department of Organization of Domestic and International Visits, Promotion Department of the Ministry of National Defense.

Researchers they also obtained documentation relating to the purchase and issuance of the watch and secured the contents of the work email boxes of Agnieszka G. and Jolanta L., including an email with the following text: “I chose this one” with a link indicating the make and model of the Longines La Grande Classique watch.

Both During interrogation as suspects, Agnieszka G. and Jolanta L. did not admit to having committed the act of which they were accused. G. refused to provide explanations, while L. denied her involvement in the incident.

The spokesperson for the District Attorney’s Office said that the penalty for committing a suspicious act is imprisonment of up to 10 years.

Agnieszka G. in media and administration

Agnieszka G. has been associated with the Ministry of National Defence since 2018. As Director of the Operations Centre of the Ministry of National Defence, she was responsible for creating the image of the Ministry of National Defence and the Polish Armed Forces and for communication between the ministry and the Polish Army with the public.

From 2015 to 2018 she worked at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. There she headed the media department, responsible, among other things, for cooperation with the media during the 2016 World Youth Day in Krakow. She was also a co-author of social campaigns implemented by the Ministry of the Interior and Administration.

Previously, he headed the Government Information Centre (during the governments of Jerzy Buzek, Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz and Jarosław Kaczyński) and was a member of the supervisory boards of the Polish Press Agency and Exatel.

She has worked in the media for many years. Since 1991, she has been associated with Polish television, among others, as a journalist (she has prepared programmes, reports and documents), secretary of the agricultural and entertainment editorial department, manager of the editorial department for educational, youth and children’s programmes at TVP1 and the local government editorial department at TVP3. She was also a journalist for the national section of “Życie Warszawy”.
