Berlin news from AFP news agency | After a series of election defeats, the Greens’ federal executive board has collectively announced its resignation. “We have come to the conclusion: a new start is needed,” party leader Omid Nouripour said Wednesday in Berlin. A new board must be elected at the federal party conference in November.

The Greens suffered significant losses in both state elections in Thuringia and Saxony in early September and in the election in Brandenburg on Sunday.
