“I think this is not Kamil Stoch’s last season,” Adam Małysz stressed on RMF24 Radio. According to the president of the Polish Ski Association, Radosław Piesiewicz is unlikely to remain as head of the Polish Olympic Committee until the end of his term. “If there were any irregularities or other things that would cause this war between the ministry and the Polish Olympic Committee to continue, this position should be taken by one of the vice-presidents,” Małysz said.
Adam MalyszPolish ski jumping legend, currently president of the Polish Ski Association, was a guest of Piotr Salak on RMF24 Internet Radio. They are waiting for us next weekend ski jumping competition as part of the Summer Grand Prix in Wisła.
The competition was originally scheduled for August 16–18, but was cancelled. The reason was problems with the counter-incline at Adam Małysz’s facility.
All the papers are ready. Now just wait for the inspector to tap and stamp it. And let’s hope everything goes well, even though the weather forecast isn’t good – said Malysz.
There will be none in Wisła Peter Zyla, who is recovering from an injury.
Piotrek may start jumping on smaller hills this week or next. He is still in rehab and is already doing light training. I spoke to him right after the procedure and he said he was much better than before. – laughed Małysz.
As an athlete, how did you approach ski jumping in the summer? Is it just an element of training and preparation for winter, or do these competitions have value in their own right? – Piotr Salak asked.
In the past, such jumps were even more important. There were also fewer summer jumps. These jumps are not what they used to be. Previously, competitors prepared completely differently and only jumped in the winter. Today it is possible to train all year round and compete all year round. It is not impossible that One day it may come to this, because we know that winters we have will be hybrid jumps. This happened once in Wisła: we jumped on a frozen runway and landed on a plastic one. Hybrid jumping could be the future this discipline – admitted the head of the Polish Football Federation.
When asked by Piotr Salak about the Poles’ performance in Wisła, Małysz replied that there was a chance of victory. Here he pointed out David Kubacki.
As for Stefan Kraft, I think he simply maintained his winter form, that he rested and that form did not lose its importance. He is still in good shape and I think it will be important all the time. This applies not only to the summer but also to the next winter – Malysz prophesied.
Piotr Salak also asked about Klemens Murańka, who announced his retirement.
It’s definitely a shame. I always feel sorry for the players, especially jewels like Klemens, who was proclaimed the “golden son” – said Małysz.
He admitted that Murańka’s career was complicated. Klemens started (jumping – ed.) at the age of six, sponsors have already appeared, there is a lot of noise around him… Somewhere there is always a risk that when the athlete starts to grow up everything will change. And unfortunately this happened a little with Klemens – said the ski jumper from Wisła.
Sure, he achieved individual successes, but that wasn’t it. However, these his parameters changed so much that it was difficult for him to reach the top – Małysz explained.
Murańka also admitted that he was having increasing problems with motivation to train and compete.
When he was still flying 130 meters as a child, we expected him to be “the next Adam Małysz”. Well, unfortunately there was no “second Adam Małysz”. – concluded Piotr Salak.
In many sports, not only ski jumping, there is a “golden child”, but for him/her to survive to adulthood is a long and difficult path. That’s why I’m very strict here: children aged 13-14 years old should do several general development sports and then choose their own path – said Adam Małysz.
Piotr Salak also asked about Kamil Stoch, who trains individually with Michal Doleżal (remember: Thomas Thurnbichler is the coach of the national team).
My job is to let the player prepare for the season in the best possible way. And I, God forbid, don’t want to interfere in anything that doesn’t belong to me somewhere. – said the president of the Polish Football Federation. Kamil has matured a bit to the point where he wants to prepare himself, and now he has to think more about himself, how to do and coordinate certain things. You can see from his face and attitude that it was a good move. – concluded Małysz.
Many fans wonder and fear that this could be Kamil Stoch’s last season. – said Pyotr Salak.
I don’t think this is Kamil Stoch’s last season – said Adam Małysz. In his opinion, the athlete from Ząb will want to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games.
Where are they, these young jumpers, Mr. President? – Piotr Salak asked
We actually have some gems like this, but it’s hard to polish them.. And somewhere, those things that have been done over the years, even some small mistakes, need to be corrected today. And this often takes time – Malysz said.
Last year we had two medals at the Junior World Show Jumping Championships, so we have potential and I hope these players will develop so much that we will finally have these successors, but already in the national team – he added.
Finally, Piotr Salak went beyond the world of ski jumping. And he asked if Radosław Piesiewicz is expected to remain as president of the Polish Olympic Committee until the end of his term. There are numerous accusations against him regarding the functioning of the Polish Olympic Committee and irregularities in expenditure.
I’m not involved in this whole process – Małysz reserved. And he added: If there were any irregularities or other things that would cause this war between the ministry and the Polish Olympic Committee to continue, this position should be taken by one of the vice-presidents.
I think the most important thing is to be transparent, to simply show how these funds were spent and how the POC worked. Then public opinion would also calm down, but on the other hand On the other hand, it would also be much easier for the (sports) associations, because today the associations are getting a kick in the ass because of this whole situation – said the president of the Polish Ski Association.
