As Kommersant has learned, a Moscow military court has received a new criminal case against former Russian actor Kirill Kanakhin. Earlier this year, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in absentia for treason; this time, together with several comrades from the terrorist organization “Russian Volunteer Corps” (RDK), banned in Russia, he is immediately charged with a whole range of terrorist and other crimes committed during attacks on the border areas of the Bryansk and Belgorod regions.
The Second Western District Military Court received the materials of the criminal case against the leaders and participants of the terrorist group RDK banned in Russia Denis Kapustin (Nikitin), Kirill Kanakhin, Alexander Galanov, Alexey Ogurtsov and Anton Zyryanov. On September 19, the case was transferred to the judge; after studying the investigation materials, he will determine the date of the first hearing. The trial will be held in absentia, since the accused are on the territory of Ukraine, and will be closed to outsiders, as the case contains materials containing state secrets.
Depending on the role and degree of participation of each person involved, they are charged with terrorist attack, attack on the life of a law enforcement officer, training for the purpose of terrorist activities, illegal trafficking in weapons and ammunition, illegal trafficking in explosive devices and substances, illegal trafficking in large-calibre firearms, organization of an illegal armed group or participation in it, illegal crossing of the state border, smuggling of potent and toxic substances, organization of a terrorist community or participation in it, propaganda of terrorism and robbery (Articles 205, 317, Article 205.3, Articles 222, 222.1, 222.2, 208, 322, 226.1, 205.2, Art. 205.4 and 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to Kommersant, the investigation believes that Kirill Kanakhin (in the 2000s he played episodic roles in the TV series “Capercaillie”, “Precinct”, “Alien Wings”, etc.) joined the banned terrorist RDK “no later than August 2022″. ” and there they received uniforms, weapons, ammunition and explosive devices. In January-February 2023, having undergone special training, the accused took part in hostilities against Russian troops in the Kherson direction, in March, together with other defendants, he took part in a terrorist attack in the Bryansk region, and in May 2023 – in an attack on border settlements in the Belgorod region. It should be noted that during their raids, the militants were actively engaged in self-promotion, posting on social networks and the Internet videos where they were captured in the uniform of a terrorist organization at the scenes of crimes. They also assisted those involved in criminal investigations.
Note that two of the accused have already been sentenced to life imprisonment in absentia: Kirill Kanakhin – in February this year for treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), and one of the creators of the banned “corps”, Denis Kapustin, who adopted the pseudonym Nikitin – in November 2023 for treason, attempted terrorist attack, training in terrorist activities and creating a terrorist community.
