On the night of Thursday to Friday, during planned training exercises, a missile from a Romanian subunit of the NATO Battalion Battle Group hit an apartment block in Bemowo Piskie. No one was injured, no one was hurt – said the press officer of the PAP of the 15th Mechanized Brigade in Giżycka, Captain. Małgorzata Misiukiewicz.
Press officer of the 15th Giżycko Mechanized Brigade, Capt. Małgorzata Misiukiewicz told PAP that night shooting exercises were held at the training ground in Bemowo Piskie on the night of Thursday to Friday. She stressed that these were planned exercises.
During them, one of the Romanian subunit’s bullets hit a residential building. Blockade. Fortunately, no one was injured, no one was injured
– said Captain Misiukiewicz. She added that at the moment there is no information whether there were residents in the building when the missile hit.

Captain Misiukiewicz did not answer the question about what type of bullet hit the block. She assured that this would be subject to the determination of the Military Police.
The mayor of Bemowo Piskie went to the scene of the accident and the Military Police are also on site to investigate the case. Captain Misiukiewicz assured that the army would cover all the damages caused by this event.
The NATO Battalion Battle Group stationed in Bemowo Piskie includes soldiers from the United States, Great Britain, Romania and Croatia. On a daily basis, the NATO Battalion Battle Group cooperates with the 15th Mechanized Brigade Giżycko.
Orzysz Ground Forces Training Center
In Bemowo Piskie (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship) there is the Orzysz Land Forces Training Centre, which manages military exercises at the nearby Orzysz training ground. Bemowo Piskie is also the headquarters of the NATO Battalion Battle Group (BBG) stationed in Poland. The BBG’s base country is the United States, and the unit also includes soldiers from Great Britain, Croatia and anti-aircraft fighters from Romania. On a daily basis, the BBG cooperates with the 15th Giżycko Mechanized Brigade.
