A woman reported the distribution of food baskets by the campaign of Brazilian Confederation candidate Ze Ronaldo in the Corderopolis complex, in the Mangabeira neighbourhood, in Feira de Santana. Recorded on video.
“Jose Ronaldo, oh, he’s giving out basic food baskets, free basic food baskets, look! One for each family,” a voice says during the recording.

This practice is considered an electoral crime, as it constitutes vote buying and the abuse of political and economic power.
Donating goods, such as food baskets, to obtain votes is prohibited under Law No. 9504/1997, which describes illegal voting. From the registration of the candidacy until election day, in this case October 6, such actions can lead to the imposition of a fine and the cancellation of the candidate’s registration or certificate by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal.
