In Wachtberg-Gimmersdorf, a front-end loader caught fire on a construction site on Tuesday evening around 21:35. As Michael Rook, a spokesman for the Wachtberg Fire Department, reported on the scene, the front-end loader was already fully engulfed in flames when emergency services arrived. About 25 emergency services were able to quickly extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading further. According to Rooke, there was also a bang during the extinguishment, which came from a flat tire from the intense heat.

Emergency services and police inspected the construction site and found a small construction container that was also damaged. In the evening, it was initially unclear how the damaged container was connected to the fire and why the front-end loader caught fire. At the scene, however, the rescue services found damage to the back of the excavator, which could correspond to the damage to the container. The police have started an investigation.
