A two-year-old boy died after being run over while running out of a restaurant on Avenida Santos Dumont, in Guaruja, on the coast of São Paulo, on Saturday (28). The incident was recorded on site security cameras.
The accident occurred around 11 a.m., when the father reported that his son left his hand inside the restaurant and ran toward the street, where he was hit by a car.
Pictures show the boy walking through the restaurant before running through the door into the street. Many people, both inside the establishment and on the sidewalk, rushed to try to help him.
According to the Public Security Secretariat, the boy was taken to the Vicente de Carvalho emergency room, where he underwent resuscitation, but did not survive his injuries. His death was confirmed shortly afterwards.
The Public Prosecution said in a memorandum: “The accident was registered as manslaughter while driving a car at the local police station, which requested an examination of the car.”
