A Belgian priest has been arrested on drug trafficking charges after a night of sex and drugs ended in the death of a British clergyman, local authorities said on Saturday (28).
The 69-year-old man, whose name has not been revealed, was spending Thursday night with his 60-year-old Belgian partner at a clergy house in Calmthout, near Antwerp, when he felt unwell, the ministry said.
Shortly after midnight, the Belgian priest called emergency services, who were unable to revive his companion.
“It appears that both men took ecstasy and pills and had sex. Two ecstasy pills were also found,” the deputy said.
According to the MP, the autopsy did not provide any conclusive information about the cause of the British cleric’s death.
The 60-year-old Belgian priest was arrested on charges of drug smuggling resulting in death.
