The man who killed his wife and ex-boyfriend with a homemade sword committed the crime after being caught trying to have an extramarital affair. The double murder of women occurred in Edeia, South of Goiás, on the 19th. Renan dos Santos, aged 23, was arrested for the crime. The information is from the O Popular newspaper.
The conclusion that Renan’s crimes occurred after attempted treason came from the Civil Police of Goiás (PC-GO). Based on the investigation, his wife, Luana Meirelles, 28, found out about Renan’s conversation with his ex-girlfriend, Ana Júlia Ribeiro, 22, and asked him about the story.
At the time of the crime, Luana was talking to Ana Júlia about the conversation between the girl and Renan. Ana Júlia presents prints of conversations in which she tries to show that she is trying to revive the relationship.
Luana was murdered in her own home. After that, Renan went to Ana Júlia’s workplace and hit her several times with a sword. Her ex-boyfriend was taken to the Governador Otávio Lage de Siqueira State Emergency Hospital, in Goiânia, but he succumbed to his injuries and died two days after the crime. The violence was recorded by security cameras.
Renan managed to escape using a bicycle, but was ultimately caught in the act. The man underwent a custody hearing where his arrest was upheld. He must be held accountable for the crime of femicide.
