A 56-year-old man was killed after being shot in the chest during a hunt that took place this Saturday in the town of Crestet (Ardèche). An investigation has been opened.
A drama unfolded, just three weeks after the opening of the hunting season in France. In the small town of Crestet (Ardèche) – with a population of around 420 – a hunter was hit by a bullet in the chest. The incident occurred this Saturday, September 21, in the afternoon, during a hunting trip: a hunter a few hundred meters away raised the alarm, worried about the health of the 56-year-old hunter.
Emergency services were immediately called to the scene, even though the victim was in an area with difficult access. According to our colleagues at TF1 Information Citing sources close to the case, the fifty-year-old is a farmer and is also the assistant to the city’s mayor, Marie-Laure Blanc.
The Carpentras prosecutor’s office decided to open an investigation to find out how such an incident could have happened. Technicians from the gendarmerie went to the scene to make initial findings. Investigators also said that they do not exclude any clues, especially regarding the fact that the victim could have shot himself.
