A ruptured pipe caused a major water leak in Realengo, a neighborhood located in the western region of Rio, on Monday (30) morning. The accident caused a shopping and sales warehouse and several homes in the area to be flooded, with water rising nearly 15 meters into the air due to the intense pressure.
In response to this situation, franchisee Rio+Saneamento closed Rua Pirapura, near General Azevedo Avenue. The company’s teams, along with the Western Sub-region, were quickly called in to respond to the incident and begin containment and remediation work.
Light also spoke, reporting that a technical team had been sent to the site to assist with emergency operations.
So far there is no information about the cause of the leak, but the authorities are working to investigate what happened and reduce the effects on the residents of Rialengo.
