A driver is on the run after hitting and killing a cyclist in southern South Carolina

Edivan Abate da Silva, 28, died after being run over by a car while cycling on the banks of SC-285, in Ermou, south of Santa Catarina. The driver involved in the accident did not provide assistance and disappeared before the arrival of firefighters and military police.

According to the Military Highway Police, at 9:20 pm on Saturday (28), Edivan was heading towards Ermu, in the area where he lives, when he was hit by the car leaving the BR-101. The man was already dead when rescuers came to him.

The body was taken by the scientific police and released for the funeral that will begin on Sunday afternoon (29) in the Morro do Ermo mortuary chapel. The relatives of the deceased announced on social media that the farewell ceremony will be held at five o’clock in the evening, followed by the burial.

Edivan leaves behind his family members, his wife and three-year-old daughter. The civil police must investigate the case.
