Mexico City.– When it comes to leading men of Disney princesses, very few are as unattractive as characters like Prince Charming, so it’s curious that a live-action movie is in the works for him.
This was revealed by Variety this Thursday, confirming that director Paul King, responsible for the Paddington franchise and the recent Wonka adaptation, will be in charge of helming the project.
The action film, which was co-written by Simon Farnaby and John Crocker, is keeping plot details under wraps, although it is expected to talk about the origins of several princesses’ love interests. The Prince Charming archetype, this man who will come to the rescue of a damsel in distress who will fall in love with him at first sight, is considered by many to be outdated.
Its main representatives are seen in the classic Disney cartoons of Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, the first of all being the one that appears in Cinderella. However, Variety assures that the character in this new film will not be specifically related to those stories.
After his stint in the first two Paddington installments, Paul King created box office and critical success with Wonka, a film that grossed $634 million at the worldwide box office.
