Criminal investigators from Sopot detained a 47-year-old man wanted since 2017 with an Interpol red notice from Canada. The case concerns the trafficking of, among others, fentanyl and cocaine.
The 47-year-old man appeared on Tuesday in the Sopot court on a simple civil case. The police tracked him down, even though he changed his last name and the order of his first names (his second name now became his first).
He was wanted as of 2017 in 196 countries.
Criminal police officers held searches at the courthouse. The man was surprised to see them. The case for which he is wanted is for trafficking in prohibited substances in… form of an organized criminal group, as well as possession of property acquired by crime. Under Canadian law, the man now faces up to life in prison – said Karina Kaminska, spokeswoman for the Pomeranian police officers, to RMF FM.
The substances distributed by the detained 47-year-old are: fentanyl, carfentanil and cocaine.
Today, the 47-year-old will be brought to the prosecutor’s office to initiate proceedings for possible extradition.
