Seven people have already died in forest fires in Portugal since Sunday. The latest civil defense report (ANEPC) says more than 50 people have been injured, Lusa news agency reported. More than 5,300 firefighters, civil defense workers and soldiers have recently fought more than 20 major blazes in the north and center of the popular holiday destination. A total of 21 firefighting aircraft and helicopters were deployed, it said. “It’s like the end of the world,” one affected woman told CNN Portugal.
