CableMod initiates recall for angled 12VHPWR adapters and calls for their disuse

CableMod has initiated a recall for its 12vhpwr right angle adapters. The company has determined that the updated version 1.1 may also have problems and has therefore decided to no longer sell such products. This specifically concerns adapters: (angled) 12vhwpr cables that are connected directly are not affected.

With this adapter it should be a lot easier to hide the 12vhpwr cable from video cards.

The recall includes all right-angled adapters, i.e. all 90° and 180° variants of versions 1.0 and 1.1. The male side of this connector can come loose (which plugs into the GPU), causing it to overheat and melt. The manufacturer therefore calls on you to stop using it immediately. Anyone who has one of these adapters in a system is recommended to switch off the system and wait a while before unplugging it – so that the adapter is not too hot.

More practical information should emerge over the next few days. Customers who have already experienced problems using this adapter can contact customer service.
