Nothing Phone (2a) prototype with new design photographed, expected at the end of February

Twitterer Yogesh Brar has shared a ton of information about the Nothing Phone (2a), the cheaper smartphone that Nothing is reportedly currently working on. In addition to the main specifications and the possible price and release date, a photo of the device can also be seen. It would be a Production Validation Test copy, which has been placed in a large housing to hide the design.

While little can be seen of the appearance, the position of the cameras certainly indicates that the design will not be exactly the same as the Phone (1). Contrary to recent rumors, the cameras are positioned at the top center, instead of underneath each other in the top left corner. In addition, the Glyph lighting has been renewed and at the same time offers the same controls as those of the Phone (2). Unfortunately, this cannot be seen due to the case.

The 1,000mAh battery would be a placeholder.

In terms of specifications, a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate is mentioned. Under the hood should be a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC, which is assisted by 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The camera system on the back consists of two 50MP sensors. The device is expected to be equipped with Nothing OS 2.5 (Android 14), which has recently been rolled out to the Phone (2).

According to Brar, Nothing will introduce the Phone (2a) at the Mobile Word Congress, which runs from February 26 to 29 in Barcelona. He mentions a suggested retail price of 400 US dollars, which converts to 443 euros including VAT.
