21-year-old man strangled police officer in Lower Saxony until he lost consciousness

As announced by the Osnabrück public prosecutor on Sunday, police officers were called to a fight in the Meppen bar district at around 5 a.m. on Saturday morning. Two officers then chased the 21-year-old man who was named as the suspect.

However, a police officer found the man alone in the station area. A fight ensued, with the 21-year-old man putting the officer in a headlock and choking him until he lost consciousness. It was only when another police officer arrived that the man broke free and fled. However, he was arrested by another officer after a heavy resistance.

At the station he attacked the officer again, who was reportedly only able to subdue him with difficulty. According to authorities, the police officer who was attacked was in great danger and was injured. Therefore, the Public Prosecutor suspects murderous intent.

Therefore, the investigating judge issued an arrest warrant for the 21-year-old on Saturday for attempted murder and other crimes. According to the prosecutor’s office, the man has several previous convictions for violent crimes, and several other investigations are underway against him, mainly for violent crimes.
