Samsung Debuts Galaxy A15 At $140 With Possible AMOLED Display

Samsung quietly introduced its latest budget-friendly Android smartphone, the Galaxy A15, with an attractive price. The Galaxy A series has gained recognition for offering excellent value in the realm of Android smartphones, particularly with Samsung’s commitment to enhancing update policies for its more affordable devices. Earlier in the year, the company launched the Galaxy A14 with an impressive four years of Android support for just $199.

The Galaxy A15 (although not officially announced) has made its debut through Walmart, where versions compatible with Boost Mobile and Cricket Wireless are listed starting at $139. The device showcases an updated design, a striking deep blue color, and seemingly reduced bezels around the display. Key specs highlighted in the listings include a 5,000 mAh battery, a MediaTek 6835 SoC, 25W fast charging, a 50MP rear camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and 128GB storage.

An AMOLED display?!

One notable aspect prompting curiosity is the display technology — While the Walmart listing mentions an “IPS LCD” panel for the 6.5-inch, 90Hz, FHD+ display, the Boost Mobile packaging directly claims an AMOLED display. The utilization of an AMOLED panel at this price point would be noteworthy, but without an official confirmation from Samsung, the display type remains uncertain.

Regardless of the display ambiguity, the Galaxy A15 stands out for its budget-friendly price combined with Samsung’s commendable update policy. However, it’s worth noting that the device is currently listed as “out of stock” on Walmart, indicating potential high demand or limited availability.
