Last Sunday night, a shooting broke out during an altercation outside a club in Düsseldorf’s Old Town. According to police, it is still unclear what type of weapon was used. It seems likely that an irritant gas was released, as rumored. Eleven people nearby suffered eye and respiratory irritation. Five of them were hospitalized.
An argument broke out in front of the bar early in the morning when a bouncer tried to kick two men out of the bar. One of the two men then pulled out an unidentifiable object from the entrance and fired several shots in the direction of the bouncer. He then ran away. Employees were able to detain his friend until police arrived. Officials said they found a weapon-like device on the 21-year-old, which was intended to scare away animals.
